Scotland - Stirling Castle - The Great Kitchens

When Stirling Castle was a royal residence there were huge kitchens on two levels. But when the castle became more of an active fortress the kitchens were dismantled and filled in with rubble and basically forgotten about for a few centuries.

One of the levels has now been excavated and a really interesting reenactment put in place. It was really well done. The guide did mention it on the tour, and noted humorously that anyone who had a fear of life size mannequins should probably forgo that part of the castle.  I loved it.
