Fontmell Magna was the closest village to Ashmore, where I stayed in Dorset. I walked around the village some days. Many villages in Dorset look this picturesque. It's truly a beautiful part of England.
I saw several houses with these types of figures on the top of thatched roofs. They are wire frames that are filled with some form of the thatch materials.
The post box in Fontmell Magna is GR who was George VI, Elizabeth II's father. So this post box was placed here before she became Queen, most likely before or during WWII,
